These high-quality petri dishes are specially designed for mushroom spore germination, mold detection, bacterial and culture study, and other scientific applications. They come pre-sterilized, so you can use them straight out of the box, and are made with premium malt extract agar, providing a nutrient-rich environment for your fungal cultures.

Long shelf life: these petri dishes have a long shelf life, allowing you to store them for future use. How to use agar plates.

We recommend that agar plates remain unopened and are refrigerated (not frozen) so that they last longer. When you are ready to use, remove the agar dishes from the refrigerator and let them warm up to room temperature. This generally takes anywhere from 30 min to 1 hr.

All work should be done in front of a hepa filter laminar flow hood, or within a clean still air box. Using clean/sterile instruments, deposit culture samples or spores to the surface of the plates.

Replace the lid of the petri dish back on top, then use parafilm or other adhesive tapes around the edge of the plates to keep it sealed. Incubate plates at about 65-77f, and keep a thermometer nearby to monitor the temperature.

If condensation is visible you may store the plate upside down. Fungal colonies should be visible in several days.
