The kit described is an xl-size monotub designed for professional or commercial use in mushroom cultivation. 1 black base: the foundation of the tub where the substrate and spawn are placed. 1 bin liner: this washable and reusable bin liner can line the tub, preventing side-pinning and making cleanup easier. 1 colonization lid: used during the initial colonization phase to cover the substrate. 1 fruiting lid: this lid is available in stackable or tapered variation.
The tapered lid helps manage moisture by directing condensation forming on the top of the lid to the sides, while the stackable lid allows for stacking multiple tubs. The condensation from the stackable tubs falls directly onto your substrate or fruiting mushrooms. After complete colonization, the colonization lid is replaced by one of these fruiting lids. When swapping the colonization lid with one of the fruiting lids, you can add a casing layer to your fully colonized tub. If you decide to use our casing, you will need a 2 kg casing layer for the tub. What do you not get with this kit.
Grain bag, substrate and casing. Black base with colonization lid: l x w x h : 52cm : 39 cm: 19 cm. Black base with stackable lid: l x w x h : 52cm : 39 cm: 30 cm.
Black base with tapered lid: l x w x h : 52cm : 39 cm: 32 cm. This monotub has a capacity of 6 kg, accommodating 2 kg of spawn and 4 kg of substrate. It is not recommended for beginners due to its large size and potential contamination loss. Insert the liner in the black base, add your substrate, and then the colonized mushroom spawn in layers, finishing with a substrate layer on top. It would be best to use 3 kg spawn and 3 kg substrate(1:1 ratio) being the best or 2 kg spawn or 4 kg substrate(2:1 ratio).
Close the base with a flat colonizer lid and cover the holes in the black base with painter's or duct tape on all sides. Painter's tape(masking tape) is recommended as it does not leave residue. Once the mycelium has fully colonized in the tub, apply 2 kg casing layer on top of the substrate (optional) and change to a fruiting lid.Replace the painter's tape or duct tape with micropore tape. If you did not use a casing layer, you must maintain surface conditions of very fine, tiny water droplets with our heavy-duty atomizer spray. Mist as frequently as required so that the tiny droplets of water always stay on top of the surface; stop misting when the mushroom starts to come(pinset). The monotub goes in our biggest box, 62cm x 42 cm x 42 cm.
The tub facilitates the growth of any top-fruiting mushroom. The kind of substrate you need would differ.
For example, to grow oysters, reishi, or shiitakes, you would need hardwood sawdust and bran substrate. To grow portobello/white button/almond agaricus mushrooms and any dung-loving mushrooms, you need our manure substrate.
Some mushroom types may require coco and vermiculite substrate. The product video is coming soon. This item is made of plastic.
